Writing a New Chapter

Before beginning a new chapter in life, it may be helpful to acknowledge the ending of a chapter, creating space for the new one to begin. The move towards letting go and thinking more seriously about the dominant parts (within me) that no longer serve me, or my relationships, the way they once did in years past. Also, it’s not unusual to notice grief as being part of the process, while also being mindful where acceptance plays a role.

  • What am I leaving behind? - habits, choices, blame, resentments, self-criticism, a place, relationship(s), certain parts of yourself, but not of the true Self.

  • What did this chapter teach you?

From here, a next step could be asking “Why” do I want a new chapter? What is the purpose and what is the outcome I’m hoping for? The “why” becomes the guide and steadying force when uncertainty and insecurity want to take control.

During these holidays, may this season of Light provide you with strength and resilience in our world that is in desperate need of greater hope, truth, and kindness.
